Fun Games For Siblings of Different Age

I am excited my little girl has a baby brother now to play with. He completes my dream family, and I am looking forward to the siblings having lots of fun together. I do understand that babies are quite boring to most 3-year-olds. They can’t race, can’t build towers, or role-play. They can’t talk or walk. So it was a surprise for me to discover that even with the baby, there are games that could be fun for both siblings, and we can have fun all together as a family! These games are fun for most ages! Here they are:

  1. Balloons This is how my baby boy laughed for the very first time - when we played balloon with his sister!! Even we, adults, enjoy playing with balloons, having them around, and hitting them towards each other. My daughter also loves to pretend there is the wind that blows the balloon away and to run around holding it. The baby boy loves observing the balloon. The way we played was my daughter threw the balloon towards the baby boy and I helped the baby to kick the balloon with his feet. I have to admit, now, that the baby is a bit older, he tries to grab the balloon and put it in his mouth. So we paused on the game for a little bit. But I don’t doubt the balloons will be back!

  2. Bubbles. Children of any age love bubbles. Anyone who can walk/run loves to chase them. But looking at the bubbles and learning to follow them with the eyes is very good for a baby’s brain development. At the moment, we play bubbles in the bathroom but come Spring, we will be chasing them outside on the grass!

  3. Sensory (colorful) scarfs. The scarves were an absolute hit at my daughter’s three years old Birthday party! Babies start with peek-a-boo with the scarfs. Because the scarfs are transparent, they can still see the person playing, and it makes the game nicer for the baby. This game is still fun with two-year-olds! Also, the scarves can be danced with and thrown around, used to make party dresses, and of course, would come in very useful with role-playing. This autumn, impressed by colorful leaves, my daughter played that the scarfs are the leaves falling from the trees.

  4. Musical instruments. Making music is fun at most ages. My baby boy loves rattle instruments! My 3-year-old girl loves them too, but she also has a flute and a trumpet. She plays them and asks me, Mommy, to dance. I can’t say no! The trumpet combined with some rhythm on a drum is soo fun to make up some music and pretend to be an orchestra.

  5. Roberta. It’s the name of our Fisher-Price Beat Belle toy. My daughter received it for her first Birthday. But the biggest fun she has with it now, being a three-year-old. She loves to play some music on Roberta and to dance with it. My baby boy loves to watch the colorful screen. Everyone entertained, Mom can sit back and relax for a little bit!
